What methods of book promotion and marketing have worked best for you? Basically, how do you get the most bang for your buck? I am looking to network with people like everyone here. I would love to here ideas and advice on how I can promote my book and site, what has worked best for everyone else, and trade secrets. If we can network to help each other, that is great.

I would say create an author page or book page and start networking on facebook. If you decide to go this route, look me up and I'd be happy to give you a spotlight on my blog.

I work for a weekly paper that covers a 53-square-mile town. In the two years I've been there, I've interviewed multiple residents about a tremendous variety of books: memoir, poetry, humorous observation, novels, historical fiction, historical romance, young adult mystery, children's picture books, etc. None of them had anything terribly fancy about their approach. They got my contact information either through the paper itself or off our website, reached out and said that they were town residents who had recently written a book. What I wrote wasn't exactly a book review (we've found in the past that's asking for trouble), but I talked to them about their inspiration, the process they went through, and the rest of their lives. How many sales it's netted people, I have no idea. But it only cost the author a couple hours of time.
