Here's something that is going to impact all of us. I know that the subject of whether or not to indicate that you are reviewing a book that you received for free has come up before, and that there are differences of opinion of the subject. I thought I'd share this with you, since the FTC has taken the choice away from us.

Starting in December, any person who posts a review of a product that they received free in exchange for a review is going to be required to disclose that they received the product for free. If not, they are going to face fines of up to $11,000.

Apparently, the idea is that a free product is "compensation" for a review, and as such, reviewers are going to have to let their readers know that they were, in effect, paid for their opinion.

This goes for people who review ANY product -- from books to electronics and everything in between.
