Wow! That really is shocking! If nothing else, I really rely on the Kirkus reviews when I'm looking at books on the Barnes & Noble site. They always seem to give me a thoughtful, thorough review.

Yes I am shocked as well but not surprised. Print media is having a very difficult time keeping up. I just emailed my agent about this but I am sure she already knows. Thanks for the heads up!

[Book Calendar]

Reviews are like newspaper articles very short and easier to read online. They will transition to the online environment eventually. Already, Library Journal has an excellent review section, Earlyword has an excellent review section, New York Times books has an excellent reviews section, New York Review of Books is easier to read online, I can look at Powells Books Review A Day-- with an authoritative review from online magazines, the Indie Next list, and many other internet review sites and get my reviews and recommendations easier and faster than in the paper medium. Even here I can find more reviews than in most magazines. Kirkus Reviews did not do a good job of transitioning to the online review environment

Book Calendar, I think you hit the nail on the head. It makes perfect sense. Things that cannot adopt to technology or the Internet will continue to fall behind or be left out.

And for the record I can't remember the last time I read a review from a magazine or newspaper. I read my reviews online. I love review blogs religiously.
