One entry per person or multi-entry giveaways? Which is better?

I'm still relatively new to book blogging but I've finally gotten to the point where I am doing giveaways on my site. I was wondering what everyone's opinion on giveaways that only allow one entry per person or multi-entry giveaways? Opinions?

Personally, i like it simple as can be. All that do this and do that for extra entries get on my nerve. that is why i have a group here on book blog titled, Simple Book giveaways. However i tried it with a group blog i just finished and i'm not doing it again. Nope, put your name in the bag one time, draw the name of the winner, old school is good enough for me.

I whole heartedly agree with my friend, Sidne!!!

I don't enter if I have to jump through hoops.  So, my vote- one entry!

I like making the main entry easy.  I do like having more options though, both as a host and someone who enters.  It gives more of a chance to win if you really want to.

I prefer giveaways where the first entry is a mandatory entry and the others are optional. I do that with my giveaways. The mandatory entry is usually just a comment to let me know that they wish to be entered. The optional entries are extra entries for those who want to subscribe to my blog, like my FB fan page, etc.

I'm with Jennifer and Evangeline. In my giveaways, I ask for one mandatory entry (so I know who you are and that you're interested--LOL!) and then have a bunch of optional extra entries for those who like them. And since I personally love getting extra entries on other people's giveaways, I do it unto others as well. ;-)

I think it depends on what your end goal is. If the purpose is just to say thank you to your followers, then a one entry giveaway is great (and supper easy for all of us who enter!)

If you are hoping to gain followers on your blog, your twitter, your facebook, and get your blog name spread a bit wider- One manditory and then "bonus" points for following you or posting about the contest on their blog is a great way to network!

Best of luck! Let me know when you post your giveaway!

I love one entry giveways, I don't jump through hoops just to be entered. Unfortunatly I have a giveaway where the host wants people to like her facebook page. That is the only time I am having that. I like simple entries.

I don't mind either the one entry or multiple entry ones. I don't mind tweeting for an additional entry etc. However, if I have to follow someone with Google Friend Connect just to be able to enter at all, I will leave immediately. I understand that it is every blogger's prerogative to do what they want with their giveaway, but I don't even use GFC, so I won't start following people just to enter a giveaway.

I'm glad I saw this post, I'm just thinking about doing my first giveaway and am wondering the same thing. Does it get difficult checking people have tweeted/posted on their blog/liked on FB, how much time do you spend checking?

I let people submit either one or two entries; it's their choice.  Joseph
