“The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire” Jack Weatherford (website) tells a gripping story of lost history and the role the female heirs of Genghis Khan played in his Empire. While the Great Kahn was out conquering the world, his wives and daughters managed his empire, created bureaucracies, public projects and kept trade relationships alive.

Stop by to read a review of Jim Wygant's, The Spy's Demise. A Great reading experience.

Take a gander at my recent review of Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal.

Basically, if Jane Austen wrote fantasy and read too many Penny Dreadfuls she might have written something like this.

A preview-review of Pictures of You: A Novel by Caroline Leavitt, which will be released in January of 2011 - http://josephsreviews.wordpress.com/2010/1//30/on-the-way-home/
My newest review is Six by Karen Tayleur, a YA mystery with a chilling twist.

“Jane Eyre” by Charlotte Brontë is an 1847 novel published as “Jane Eyre. An Autobiography” under the nom de plume of “Currer Bell”. The novel is told in first person narrative and goes through five distinct stages in Jane’s life. In spite of many dark elements the novel has strong elements of right vs. wrong as well as morality.
