What is the Authors profit difference between going with a publishing house vs. self publishing?

Which do you prefer and why?

Thank you!

When you self published you pretty much don't it independent which means you funding everything out your pocket. But commericial publishing are pretty much Banks. Which mean the footing the bill. Up
Hello, I am a self published author and consultant. The traditional publishing route I was offered was somewhere between 6 to 10% royalties and very low on the rights to my book. The publishing company I went with I get 20% royalties and 99% of of my rights. The company owns the cover image of my book which is still not a bad deal seeing as I get to market my book at any angle I choose. However, if the traditional publisher can map out a marketing campaign that is fantastic...I would think twice about it, probably not go with it. But definately would think about it.
