Promoting a Book

Aloha everyone!

 

I have had such a great experiance with everyone so far, I have really enjoyed my time here.  I am looking for advise from the wealth of knowledge available through all the people here.

I only have one book out at this time, and I really wish it were doing better.  I have an interview coming up, and a giveaway.  I have tried KDP Select and my book is for sale on a lot of sites, but it still isn't getting the buzz I was hoping for.

Can enyone help me with promotions?  How to do it, what I can do to get things going?  Any ideas would be great.

Two questions first:

Who do you picture reading your book?

What do you want from this book?

I feel that this book is geared towards people who enjoy the paranormal as well as those drawn towards fantasy.  It is not meant to be a Young Adult book, but I have gotten good feedback from a few teenagers who have read it. 

I would really like this book to draw some attention.  The story itself is actually made up of about five to seven books so getting a good buzz going and building anticipation for future books would be great.  I could easily see it as being a series or set of movies, playing strongly to the epic adventure set.

Ideally, the book would launch a full spectrum of interest and be able to provide my family with a good financial base.  I realize that these things take time to accomplish, and am willing to work for it.

HI.  Try advertising your book on FB and Goodreads.  Their prices are very reasonable.  Also, find groups on FB that deal with you genre and see if they might post something about your book.  It's not easy to get attention when there are so many people out there fighting for a piece of the same market.  What sites are you selling your book on?  Just curious.

I will check out GoodReads, I am on FB but haven't started paid advertising yet.  I have been joining and Liking groups that are similar to mine.  My book is actually listed on most online books stores.  Here is a short list of some of them:

Thank you for the info.  I am only on amazon now since with KDP you have to give amazon exclusive rights.  However, once my agreement with them is over I plan to branch out.

You only need to give them exclusive rights on the eBook.  If you get the book in print, it can be in bookstores and online.
