In my research about the founding of the California missions, I have come across some most interesting facts. I've made three posts on the subject to include things like:
The profusion of Grizzly bears in 18th Century California, probably causing the rebellion against Mexican rule to be called the Bear Republic Revolution.
How Indians setting fire to the tule roofs of mission building brought make tiles and using them instead of rushes.
The amazing adaptability of the friars and how they had to teach a huge variety of skills.
There will be more to come in the future. I would post more often but I'm deep into the first draft of _The Missions Bloom_, Book Three of Father Serra's Legacy.

Taking on the forces of Mother Nature for some thrill seekers is a simple task. However, when simultaneously engaging the power of Cupid, relationships become complicated. For while the fury of Mother Nature can be embraced to a point where mere survival is questionable, Cupid, on the other hand, never accepts defeat.
A reporter and a camera woman, who were ex-lovers, get caught up in a chase to document the world’s best kiteboarders. These guys dominate the high winds generated by a hurricane passing by the southern tip of the Florida Keys. While most people flee Key West, this select group of thrill seekers relishes the adventure of a lifetime. When the hurricane takes a dangerous turn and surprises everyone on their way back to Miami, there is nowhere to hide. They can only draw on their inner courage, and each other, which quickly reunites a lost passion in the process.

The Domino Effect is the story of Danny Rorro, a charismatic kid from Queens poisoned by the past. A series of painful defeats have left him scarred and isolated from his neighborhood, his parents, and, most significantly, the benevolent ways of his childhood when he was known as “Domino.” With great insight, imagery and wit, Danny recalls his past in Queens and his coming-of-age at Hamden Academy. This fastpaced and powerful story is rich with conflict, humor, tenderness and music—just like life, especially when coming-of-age.
