Searching For Sassy: Alyson Mead

Some relationships never work out and why should anyone sit around waiting for the phone to not ring when you could move to another state, get a whole new career and maybe even in the interim learn something about yourself that will help you to move on. Alyson Mead is quite resourceful and really good at psychic readings. Hired as to give readings over the phone for Astral Planet, she not only has to adjust to her new environment in California but also has to deal with her own failed relationship. Alyson has a special talent and her readers focus and specialize in love life relationships, career and other personal issues that the callers want to discuss. Picking up on or energy that the client emits and that is related to their questions she can almost feel, smell and be in the same room with the client as she answers their many questions. But, to make money and really soar she needs to make sure she keeps each caller on the phone adding as many extra minutes as possible but never going over 20. Some psychic will ask in-depth questions to draw out their callers and allow them to uncover and bring to the surface their problems and frustrations in life. As the questions unfold the answers might become less vague and the hope for helping the client is what every psychic wants.

Handling some strange callers, learning the ropes and finding some friends at work we enter the world of phone psychics. Making sure that she gives out the right advice, enlightens callers to what their futures might hold, and hopefully making a difference for the good, we learn that some of what she does relies on how long she does it. Problems galore and dealing with her own broken love life, will she ever decide to date and will she recognize Mister Right? Then her close friend from work comes to stay with her and things get really difficult with Rob whose lack of understanding of a simple question brings a really unusual response.

The interesting and unique twist is this book is that the author begins her journey in July with the sign of the Zodiac: Cancer, moving to August and Leo followed by my sign Virgo in September. In each chapter she explains the traits of a person born under that sign and how this sign would affect their lives and relationships. Alyson states that each day or each call during the day has its own theme. Most of the callers seem to want to know if their relationships will continue, if they can get back with their boyfriends, girlfriends or spouses. What is unique about Alyson is that she envisions or creates an image of the caller in her mind and sometimes can even recreate a scene helping the reader to get to know each of her clients.

Throughout the novel Alyson allows the reader to hear her callers pleas for help and her own need to find some semblance in her life too. Each relationship that she sort of jumps into causes her to reflect on the ones before and those to come as she meets many people at work and finally realizes that she needs a change and more money. The dating scene is not portrayed as being easy but quite realistic for the callers who need her help dealing with many unusual relationships, for Alyson and for her manager’s too.

Relationships change, Katie, Alyson and Patrice learn channeling and Alyson revisits another time and place. Wondering if these events really happened and if she ever had a past life leaves the reader wondering just how powerful her thoughts, being a psychic and using gift helps the reader understand where Alyson has been and her hope for a different future. Leaving the past behind and deciding on her what comes next seems difficult for all of her friends at Astral Planet. Each month she encounters some positives and negatives and each has something to do with the sign for that month.

When an earthquake hits and her company folds Alyson hopes for the support of some family and friends to help her through. But, when you read pages 204-205 and learn what happens when things go sour you hope and pray that something will change for our psychic. So, what does the Ouija board say? That I won’t reveal, as you have to channel your own thoughts when you use the board and I cannot reveal hers.

The ending and where she winds up I cannot reveal. Changes happen and realizations come into play as Alyson learns many lessons in life, begins to work and pay her bills and the rest you will have to read for yourself or better yet: See what the future holds in the Tarot Cards. Searching for Sassy is a filled with humor, joy, sadness, hope, frustrations, interesting stories, horoscopes and definitely real life readings that the author shares with the reader. Does she ever meet Mr. Right and does Alyson use her skills to help people? Find out when you read this book and just maybe you might connect with the other side.
