Hi all,

I am in the process of setting up a link where people can subscribe using feeburner (rss). Because I have my site with Wix.com it is making it very difficult to find options that are compatible with my site. If anyone has any suggestions I would forever be indebted to you!!

Thanks,

Move your site! Get a self-hosted blog!

The longer you stay with Wix the harder it will be to escape newbie hell. They have to limit your options in order to keep things simple. Sooner or later you'll outgrow it and rue the day you got started with them.

:P

Does 3 bucks a month sound doable?

I suggest you try blogger, its much easier and its utterly free. No paid add-ons, no special subscriptions- just the whole thing. And you get it for free. With blogger, your blog automatically comes with its own RSS feed, however if you want to display an RSS feed button on your blog, there is a blogger-made widget to do so.

Blogger is also good for many blogger things as well.

If you are interesting in changing you can upload your whole blog-onto your new blogger one. (Template and all)

Here is the XML Method

Download your blogs XML

On your new blogger blog go to this page http://i.imgur.com/1YLTh.png

Then click here http://i.imgur.com/vzcSb.png

You should show up on a screen that looks like

http://i.imgur.com/ln8mb.png

Click choose file and select the downloaded XML file of your old blog. XML looks different with every computer, however they normally have a rectangular piece of paper, with the words XML on it.

Then Click Upload.

METHOD 2

Copy your old blogs HTML code

go to this page : http://i.imgur.com/1YLTh.png

Click edit HTML

Copy all the code on the page and save it to a word doc

THEN copy and paste your old blog code

press save.

If method two dosent work, you can take the code from the word doc to return your blog back to normal.

Follow my blog!

... then when you outgrow Blogger, buy my book! :P

(sorry I'm not usually such a shameless self-promoter but this is amusing to me and I really do believe that the free blog services are inferior to having your own server)

You don't. You only outgrow blogger if your doing heavy, heavy CSS html coding. (Like for professional company sites Like, Cococola, Dc comics, Chevy etc...) That's when you need your own server.

Now of course having your server is better, however its overkill for the simple work she needs to do.

E.G Buying a samurai sword to cut pizza.

Not to mention your own server deal tends to be very complex.

For a good book blog you only need blogger. The majortiy of book bloggers here use blogger because its simply, easy and free. Also, the majority of use don't outgrow blogger, simply because we dont want or need high end professional sites. Its seems like a waste of money to spend $3, for your own sevrer, rather than nothing for blogger. I'll do and example.

You need to get to the grocery store.

The car you choose will only be used for this one task.

You can get a free chevy volt, OR you can pay 3 dollars for a BMW.

You only need to get to the grocery store, and the free chevy volt can do that for you. WITHOUT the extra cost.

The BMW is a much better car, however you have to pay $3 for it.

(Keep in mind you'll never use this car again after you complete the task)

I would personally choose the chevy, but that's your choice.

You guys are great!! Thanks so much for your help. Yes, I've heard some not so nice things about Wix but that was after the fact.

editorsarticle.blogspot.com I was attempting to follow your directions but internet went down so I'll try again today! Thanks again, and I won't hesitate to contact you if I continue to have questions. (I don't think I need a samurai sword right now:)

Thanks, just send me an email at editorsarticleblog@gmail.com

Its my official blog email.
