Is anyone else attending the Book Expo and / or the Book Blogger Convention in May? This will be my first time going. I thought it would be a good idea to get to know some other people who are going before I venture out there alone...!

I went to both last year and I finally got approval from my wallet to attend this year!!! Can't wait. Sunday March 27 I'm posting a list of tips for first-timers on my blog http://asiturnthepages.blogspot.com/. Check it out. Happy reading everyone.
Hey!

I'm a book blogger who's under 18 (14) and the site says that I need to be accompanied by an industry professional; is anyone else in the same boat, and if so, any ideas on how to find an industry professional? :)

Are you registering as non-editorial media? That's how to register as a book blogger. Pick the book blogger convention option. It's cheaper ($120 total). Even if you aren't going to BBC, I think that's a way around registering as an industry professional. I'm not a professional and I got my e-badge a few days ago. Is a parent going with you? That's how they should register too.
Also don't be alarmed the initial cost comes up as more than $120, but by going to BBC the cost for BEA is wiped out when you're ready to pay. Also check this link http://bookbloggerconvention.com/2010/12/2011-book-blogger-conventi...

Bloggers under the age of 18 have to have an industry professional attending with them as a chaperone.

The Book Blogger Convention adheres to Book Expo America’s policy on age restrictions for participants. This policy (stated on all registration materials) states:

“Anyone under the age of 18 (minors and infants) will only be permitted to register to attend if accompanied by a registered industry professional.”

We have been advised that parental supervision/chaperoning is not an option.  Those under the age of 18 must be in the presence of an industry professional at all times.

This is probably because 1 this a professional event and 2 liability.

I'm going--it'll be my 4th one!  I'm so excited!! I'm not going to BBC though, I'll have my sister with me and I can't swing two tickets unfortunately :( be great to see folks though and I hope I get to meet up with people, the last two times I had so much fun talking and hanging out with other like-minded readers!

I’ve been invited to be a panelist at the 2011 Book Blogger Convention in New York City May 27th. I’ll be one of the Authors Speed Dating, should be a blast!

Hopefully I’ll make it to the gathering Thursday afternoon, let me know if anyone is going to the party.

Thanks,

Joe
