Thanks for the input on my first discussion everyone. My next dilemma is the review game. Do I pay for reviews? Do I "pad" my amazon reviews by asking friends to write? My book is 29 pages, less than 850 words, and would only take a reviewer 20 minutes to read - should I pay someone $150 - $300 to review it? Please give me your thoughts.
Thanks,
John

Hey Laurie. I asked a few honest questions and I've gotten some great advice from a lot of the members, thanks again to everyone. Maybe I should have clarified my definition of "pad"... All of my friends ( I'm lucky- I've got many ) have offered to write reviews of my book - that is what I meant by "padding". I am doing my research, thank you, and I'm learning. As a former teacher I still believe the old adage that "there is no such thing as a stupid question". Please don't insult me by questioning my integrity or my intelligence...
Thank you

What does 'padding' mean?

I was referring to having friends and family (all of whom say they really like The Magic Window) write positive things about ones book. Maybe they really do like it but it's kind of hard to imagine them saying anything negative. I guess I'm saying they are probably biased...Which is why I wanted someone like you to give me an opinion (review) that wasn't biased. Thank you again Michelle!
Permalink Reply by Laurie Carlson on June 25, 2012 at 2:36am Have you taken a look at the GROUPS here on Book Blogs? There ARE Children's Groups filled with Bloggers who DO review books! A LOT of them ONLY review Children's Books. Ask some of them to review your book! Publish a public post! You'll get LOTS of takers!!
One thing I noticed while reading ALL the replies is that your ebook is NOT good. Do NOT send them an ebook copy or else it WILL GET PUBLISHED IN THE REVIEW THAT THE EDITING IS HORRID!

Laurie, considering the fact that I've only sent ONE (just had to do that for you) version of my book via kindle to a member kind enough to review it and have sold only one I think you've got your facts about the replies wrong. I don't like the kindle version and I'm working on correcting it, thanks...

When was your book released?
