I read the book but did not see the movie. Some of my friends said they saw the movie and though they liked it, there were a lot of changes. In the movie Henry only sees his daughter once but in the book he gets to see her several times. There are more changes but I hate to say anything for fear of spoiling it for those who have not read the book.
I read the book and loved and because of this I'm afraid to see the movie. I saw some of the trailers and Clare seemed...well...grumpy about her relationship with Henry and I just don't remember her being like that in the book. I know she missed him when she left, but the trailer made it seem like she was always on the verge of leaving him.
I haven't read or seen either. However, when it comes to books-to-movies, I don't even try to compare them. I enjoy both as two separate entities. It's so hard to transfer a book to a screenplay. So the screenplay needs to be adapted in a way that it will show well on the big screen.
Jamie, I agree with you. It's impossible to cram a novel in a two hour screenplay. I haven't watched the movie because I'm afraid I might not like it and I absolutely loved the book. If I see it, it will be because of Eric Bana. I think he's a hot. LOL.
I think that's a really smart idea. I have actually really been annoyed lately at all the books that are becoming movies - and they are always so different. But if I don't try to pretend like the movie is going to be the same as the book and don't even compare them, I would probably enjoy it much more.
I LOVED the book, on my top 10 list (non classics).
Enjoyed the movie, I did attend the movie with a friend who didn't read the book... she was confused throughout the movie not understanding the foward/backward time travels of Henry. The ending was solid, I shed a few tears.
I am waiting on the book to come from Amazon and THEN I will see the Movie. Normally, I always like the book better anyway so I may not make it to the movie. I agree though that Eric Bana is Hot.LOL!
THis is actually one of the books that I enjoyed less than the movie. I've noticed that this book is one that people love or hate. I didn't hate it but I just think it lacked the magic that could have made it amazing. The movie is good because it has that magic, and Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana are great actors, in my opinion.
