I just finished reading A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray, its a teen book (well, I'd say age 17 and up) and a Victorian gothic novel. http://thenovelworld.com/2009/06/03/a-great-and-terrible-beauty-rev... Its the first book in a series. Your site looks really cool! I'm definitly adding you to my blogroll. I've been really obsessed with the Victorian era lately, so its a great match!

I bought A Great and Terrible Beauty, but have so many reviews to do, that I haven't gotten around to reading it.

A Great and Terrible Beauty is pretty good. I can't remember what the second book was, but both of them were really good!

I have a few more suggestions:
-YA books the Luxe Series by Anna Godbersen. Its about a group of rich new york teenagers living in the 1900s. Very historically accurate, but just as gossipy as any other teen lit out there.
-Not a book, but have you watched the PBS series "the 1900 House", where they take a family from the year 2000, and transport them back in time to a 1900 house, dress, code of conduct etc. Its a very educational and fun series. Its only 3 episodes long.

I love victorian and gothic books, I am making a not of some of these that have been suggested. Though I read secular I also read Christian books and I wanted to mention Linore Rose Burkard's books Before the Season Ends and The House on Grosvenor Square. They are great reads.

Hmmm good question. I will think of some for you. I don't know why Anya Seton's Katherine is popping up in my head but she is WAAAAAYYYY Pre-Victorian. More like during the Plantagenet reign. LOL

Here's a site that has links to further information, authors and Victorian/Gothic Literary societies:

The Turn of the Screw is always a good one as far a Gothic goes. The Thirteenth Tale is a well written Gothic style book. If you have not read this I highly recommend it.
