Video booktrailers are a great new marketing tool in helping to bring a books pages to life. Giving readers an instant image of characters and the theme of your book. I'm interested to hear what many of you think of this new technology and if anyone has used it to help their marketing endeavors. For an example you can view my novel, (Heartache & Sin) booktrailer on my website at htp://www,authorcharlessoto.com I would love some feed back. I also attached it on the file. thanks and Happy Holidays!

Nice work on your trailer, Charles. It definitely provides the viewer with a "feel" for the story. Besides giving the viewer some idea of what the story is about I think it's equally important to give it a "feel", an "ambiance", if you will. Your trailer certainly does that.

I decided to put a narrative track in my trailer to give the viewer a bit of a personal connection with the author which, in this case of course, is me. ;-)

How effective are book trailers in terms of selling books? I'm not sure yet. My trailer has received thousands of views on YouTube. I forget exactly how many. Over 10,000 I think. While the book is selling quite well (and the Kindle edition has been on the amazon best seller list for the past few weeks), I can tell you it hasn't sold in the thousands.......... yet! Fingers crossed. LOL! But it does seem like book trailers have become almost expected by potential book buyers. We have become a video oriented society so it was only a matter of time before the printed word joined the video generation. Personally I love watching book trailers. I've even started to produce book trailers for other authors along with my book cover design service: www.bookcoversandvideos.webs.com.
Thanks for the imput Gary, I'll definietly keep you in mimd for my next trailer for my novel, Pride and a Prayer. Always good to know. You are right, I believe readers do expect to see video trailers for a title and the technoligy is expanding, soon you'll be able to walk into a book store and have a selection of trailers for anyone to view.
