Does anyone have experience with these sites they'd like to share, positive, negative, ambivalent?
I'm thinking about getting involved in one or both and was just wondering what you all thought of them.
I've recently started reading on Wattpad again. I have the app on my phone and I kind of like the whole reading experience. There new update has annoyed me a little though, because I can't find solely completed books, but there are also a ton of hidden gems in Wattpad. Always nice when I stumble upon one.
I've used the Writer's Cafe to find Twitter followers. Really jump-started my Twitter account. You follow other authors with a specific message from Writer's Cafe and they are supposed to follow you back. Once you get up to about 300 followers, Twitter becomes somewhat organic in that your name is being suggested to enough other people that you begin to get followers without having to follow them first.
I've no personal experience on either website, however I can tell you that publishers do look at Wattpad.
I was at a publishing house last month and one of the publicists talked about finding a young author on Wattpad (the girl was only 17 years old). They loved her work and are just about to release her second book. The first one did really well here in the UK and I think in the states too (they mentioned she'd been on TV etc over there). Apparently, one of their digital guys keeps on eye on sites like Wattpad for popular work.
So I'd say it's worth giving them a go!
