Websites to keep and share reading journals
Hi everyone -
This has probably been asked before, so bear with me. Can someone recommend a user-friendly website where I can log my books, record my comments on them and share views with others who have read them? I've tried the Facebook application, and found it very unsatisfactory (the jacket images disappear, adverts bombard the site, etc) and I don't want to be photgraphing my books, or their barcodes, or building virtual bookshelves, as in Shelfari (?). Something that will look up my book jackets and store them simply and easily will suffice.
Your help is appreciated. I hope this will become a forum I'll want to visit regularly, which will double the existing fora in that category (the other being Leonard Cohen, since you asked so politely).

You might like LibraryThing -- no ads, it's easy to change the cover of a book, great community, etc. GoodReads is also an excellent choice.

I like library thing for this purpose. They have a great database that searches by title or barcode -typed in- and has a large selection of book covers for each book so that you can find the one you want. No ads. You can review you books there, and there are also great forums and groups to join. There is a small membership fee is you want to load more than 200 books, but it is definitely worht the $20 dollar lifetime membership. The website is www.librarything.com. I also like that it remembers me, so when I type in the website it takes me directly to my page.

Take a look at Library Thing - you can post reviews, categorise your books etc. You'll also be able to display random books on your website. Book Lover Lisa is right - the $20 membership is worth getting as you can upload unlimited books.
