Since the main reason I blog is to find online friends to discuss books with, I'm always frustrated when I find an interesting blogger, leave lots of chatty comments on her blog, and then never see her show up on my own. And no, I don't mean one of the really busy ones who gets dozens of comments a week and can't realistically be expected to reply to all of them.

It has happened several times, and every time it does, I wonder: What are they waiting for? An invitation?

Not that it always works, either. There have been a couple of bloggers whom I did invite to visit my blog--even leaving a link--and nothing ever happened.

My own habit is to check out the blog of everyone who leaves me a comment. I guess this isn't a universal practice. I'm just surprised that so many people aren't more curious about new visitors, especially when they average only one or two comments per post.

A few weeks ago, someone said that Blogger's comments have been acting up, and that might be one factor when comments don't get returned. But I really don't think it's just a technical problem.

Another possibility I've considered is that my blog is just not as interesting to others as it is to me. (Ouch!  LOL!) In that case, I guess this post is just to let everyone know that if you like having chatty commenters on your blogs (as I do), then it's really worth returning visits to get them to keep coming back to you.  =)

I am a very active blogger with my fans.  Some blogs don't bother but i do.  because my blog is on facebook it is always easier for me to communicate when other blogs have facebook pages linked to their blogs.  I'm a facebook junkie so I don't often stray from there so I would love to be a fan of your blog if you can give me a link.  If you have a connected facebook page that makes it even easier.

Thanks for the invitation, Beccie. I can see how a Facebook presence would make a blog so much more interactive!  =)

Unfortunately, I don't have a Facebook page for my blog (and am even considering taking down my personal Facebook page because I don't use it at all!). But I do hope that other bloggers reading this thread who have more of a Facebook presence will "fan" you and be "fanned" in return.

That's okay.  Like I said I'm a facebook junkie so the only way i travel and visit blogs is when they are connected to facebook pages.  i wish you good luck though
I always make it a point to visit the blogs of those who comment. If I find something interesting in their blog, I'll leave a comment too. But yes, I'm having a lot of trouble posting in blogs hosted by Blogger. In fact, I'm not really sure my comment on your blog went through. I commented on 6-7 blogs yesterday and it was frustrating seeing the page reload and my comment still in the comment field. I think the techies at Blogger needs to do some upgrading or something... it's annoying.

If you mean your comment about Malaysian readers, it went through! =) I enable comment moderation on posts older than seven days so that I don't miss any comments--but I can see why that would be tricky for someone having so much trouble with Blogger. =/

Geez, all the Blogger bugs are coming out these days, aren't they? I wonder what happened. It didn't use to be this hard . . .

Is it possible for a virus to have entered their systems? Since the downtime a few weeks ago, Blogger seems kinda "shaky".
I've found that if I'm having an issue getting my comment through by selecting 'preview comment' it'll always go through. It might not work for you, and it doesn't always work for me, but it seems to generally be pretty successful

Adding to Kayleigh's advice, I've heard from other sources that comboxes that open on a separate page or in pop-up windows don't have this problem. It's the embedded comboxes that give visitors trouble. Just another thing for the Blogger users themselves to be aware of, so we can meet all our commenters halfway. =)

I also make it a point to visit each and every person who comments on my blog. I think I may even have left a comment on yours (it's very cool by the way).

I agree, however, that not everyone does the same.

Have a good weekend,

Lauren

Thank you, Lauren! I'm afraid I don't remember the comment you left on my blog or whether or not I reciprocated it . . . so I've just left you another one. LOL! ;-)

Thank you for this reminder.  I usually get notifications of comments during the day, when I work, so I usually forget to respond to them, both on my blog and on theirs.   This is something I, admittedly, could be better at.

You're welcome, Charlotte! =)
