I posted my own reading goals for 2009 on my page and I was wondering if anyone else had reading goals for the new year. Please share what books you want to read this year. You may help me to expand my goal or someone else goals list!

Well this year I just plan on reading more, last year I don't think I pick up one book, well I did pick up one book but that's it. This year I'm going to try to find more time to read. Here is the book I'm reading now "The New Rules of Marketing and Pr" By David Meerman

Well I don't have any 'goals' but I am participating in a few challenges. The biggest being 'Read Your Own Books' in which I hope to read 100 of my TBR book pile...

I'd honestly be happy if I can find the last book in the Anselm Audley trilogy so I can finally read it!

The last book is Crusade right? If that is correct this site has it for under $10.

I want to read 25 non-fiction books about a foreign place (i.e. not about the U.S.). Other than that, I usually read biographies and legal mysteries/thrillers.

I like that goal, PT. I believe many USers don't know enough about the rest of the world, so I applaud your choice. Good luck and enjoy it.

I read 75 last year, so I'm shooting for 100 this year. I've got 3 down so far!

I have a list of about 40 books from my own library that I've never read, and about a dozen from a competition I'm judging, another dozen from '08 Cybils nominations, and another dozen or so of my online friends' books that are coming out this year! AND whatever review books that come my way this year. OI!

My reading goal for 2009 is to read 40 books. With the schedule I have, I hope that it is possible!!!

I'm not a fast reader, I usually get around 50 books per year. But this year I'll try to read 100. Well, let's say this is the high mark, because due to work schedule and life issues it might not be possible. But everything between 50 and 60 or above will be great. And I have a few books and series that I definitely need to start reading :)

Nothing very specific, but I have general reading goals for the New Year.

I've always been a reader, but in the past, my budget has limited me to reading only a few books a year. After school, I never had time to go to the library, so I suppose you can say my reading material was limited by both factors, which meant I mostly stuck to Fantasy and Classic Literature, my two favorite genres.

Now, working in a publishing company and having a long commute, I now have the two things which I lacked before: Books and Time, so I've decided I will use my commute time exclusively for reading (that's about two hours a day) if I can't devote more time to it and I will expand my genres. I've always wanted to, but before there were time and budget constraints, now there's none. I've so far ventured from my Fantasy and Classic Lit genres to Literary Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Self-Help books. I've also begun listening to audiobooks.

Frankly, I'm psyched.

Anna, GO FOR IT! I'm so glad you mentioned audiobooks, because I was about to suggest it to you. I think folks who haven't tried it might be delightfully surprised. Save your eyes for work.

My goals for 2009 are to just enjoy every book I read, and to also get some books read that have been sitting on my shelf since 2006!

I feel the same way. I signed up for a lot of reading challenges last year and didn't get to half of them. This year, I'm just reading to enjoy and to learn some too, I hope. Also I can relate to a shelf full of books that's been sitting there a few years.
