What is the worst book you've ever read? Oddly enough, a lot of people respond with books that are on Random House Top 100 List! Let me know......

I just couldn't finish The Life of Pi. I know so many people LOVED it but I just couldn't get into it. While I can't say it is the worst book I have read I can say that I really really didn't like it. Also, I am trying to finish The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson and I just don't think I will be able to. I figure if I can't finish it is pretty bad.
Whats The Gargoyle about?
I"m looking to get into some new authors and like some other bloggers said, I feel like even if the book is terrible I should finish it regardless. I have hard time "giving" up on books that I don't like.
I like horror but no opposed to suspense or other types.
If it stinks, you should be able to smell it pretty fast. I'm not going to waste my time plowing through a book hoping that it somehow transforms into readability. I cut them loose pretty quick. Life is too short for a bad book.

Agreed! Professional book reviewers have to stick with it though, hence some visceral reviews.
That is really funny! My friends sometimes tell me, "I'm reading this horrible book-- only 100 more pages to go!" and I say, "So stop reading it!" And they always say, "Oh, no, I started, I must finish!"

Ha, now that I think about it, I believe that all of my friends have said this to me at one point or another. And it's not just because they were reading it for a class or a book club. Hmm.

I stop watching bad movies, too, and I've walked out on plays during intermission. I mean, really, why bother throwing minutes of your life away?
Worst book I read this year is Blonde Roots. YUK!
OMG and The Secret.
My husband got "The Secret" as one of those office x-mas gifts! He was mortified (talk about a re-gift) and self help books are the worst books to read. I really can't stand them and I get them constantly from one relative (what is she trying to tell me?). I got one book (can't remember title.....imagine that?) and one was to read some lil" pearl of wisdom and then one was to reflect and write a bunch of inspirational feelings at the end of each segment. I remember writing, "This is absurd. Who buys this crap?" Maybe I'm too cynical for self-help books. There was actually one put out by Terri Hatcher!!! "Burnt Toast". Yeah, let's not go there!
LOL! It's painful, huh? The author is trying to capitalize on the law of attraction which has been around for how long? I understand WHY people love self help/positivity books but at least make it good and original! LOL. Burn Toast doesn't sound pretty at all! hahahaha
Did you see where that guy who contributed to The Secret had one of those "sweat tents" and a bunch of people died!! That is nuts! WTF
Yup! Right in my lovely sunny state! He is going on and hosting another one. Actually, it was a Sweat lodge and 2 people died and I think, 18 people were hospitalized.
The Vampire Diaries books are awful. They make Twilight seem fantastic.
