What is your favorite Book to Movie transition?

I think mine would have to be The Lord of the Rings; the movies almost made me love them even more so than the books, which is rare.

I'm torn between Little Women (the version from the 90's with Winona Ryder), and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House. I can't decide which one I like better.

I love old movies from the 1940's and 50's and I've recently discovered that quite a few of my favorites from then started out as books. So I've been exploring those a bit - other good ones are Please Don't Eat the Daisies, Yours Mine & Ours (not the new version, but the old one with Lucille Ball which was based on a book called Who Gets the Drumstick), and Father of the Bride (the original with Spencer Tracy, although I do enjoy the remake as well).

Sorry, I didn't really stick to just one, because I get so excited about old movies and the books they were based on that I can't contain myself.

Least favorite: Dune

Favorite...Harry Potter haha. Im sorry its true. They just keep getting better and better with every movie. Also, I am not going to lie I love the Pride and Prejudice (the new one not the BBC one).

Shawshank would have been the winner if not for a few minor things.

Least favorite: Along Came A Spider. Not that I overly enjoyed the book but they just did a horrid job translating onto the screen. The two should be in no way associated.

The Lord of the Rings is my all-time favourite. Loved the books and love the movies.

Another good adaptation is Perfume - they got the last scenes in the book right. OOhh...and Chocolat. I read both the books first then watched the movie which didn't disappoint.

Yes, the last scene was good, I always wondered how they would possibly do this. However, Grenouille should have been much uglier and repulsive than he was, I thought. He looked way too decent.

The author is Patrick Süsskind, a German writer.

The Godfather. The original movie all those many years ago. The one that introduced us to Al Pacino.

Lord of the rings.

The BBC mini seriesof Pride and Prejudice.

One of my least favourite: Needful things. That film didn't even start to show all the ramifications that were in the book. A total disappointment.
