What type of Giveaway

Hi Everyone,

I would be grateful for a bit of advice here... I am planning another giveaway but obviously thinking of expense of postage so I have been thinking of the options

Keep it just UK? ....Personally don't think thats fair I hate it when I see a great giveaway then realise I cannot enter because I am not from UK/US etc 

Giveaway some of my much loved copies of my books or ARCs I have? (all good condition of course)

Or set up a giveaway for certain book/books from the BookDepository? (but how would that work?)

What is the good but cheap option please advise? my daughter also has a blog so I end up financing giveaway for 2 blogs or do a joint giveaway.

Please help all advice from lovely fellow bloggers would be great.

I've seen a lot of blogs limit giveaways to specific geographic areas for real books they are planning to send through the mail. It seems like most who open up giveaways internationally do gift certificates. I know that I've won a few and they just send the gift certificate by email- it has a code. I know that my Amazon account in the US works at Amazon UK. Actually it was the reverse- I set up an Amazon UK account to buy DVD's first and when I went to set up a US account it said I already had one. So, if that's still true, then Amazon and Book Depository would probably be the easiest places to use to send gift certificates. I've never seen it in a giveaway, but I know that http://www.betterworldbooks.com/ also ships worldwide. (I checked it out and Book Depository is worldwide, but limited to certain countries. I think betterworld really ships everywhere for free, no minimum purchase). Betterworld has mostly used books and they usually have a sale every month where books are 3 for $10 or 4 for $12 with each additional book $3. So, even a $20 gift certificate would be 6-7 books if you waited for a sale. Plus, they do a book matching for charity- for every book purchased, they donate a book.

Hi- a lot of blogs do giveaways from BookDepository and I will be trying that myself soon (I don't really know how it works at the moment) But a giveaway of your ARC's is a really really great idea!

Do you have an eBook? Coordinating either a free or $.99 giveaway of an eBook can really increase awareness of both the book you are promoting and any previous book you have published. If you coordinate and promote the giveaway for a set number of days (3-5) you might end up giving away a TON of ebooks. However, you should also see your sales settle in at a higher number once the promo is over. We've also seen a nice increase in backlist sales (not on a giveaway or promo) during a giveaway or promo for a front list title. Coordinating a eBook promo is inexpensive and can be very successful.

I do a lot of giveaways on my blog. They are international giveaways. I utilize Amazon and Book Depository. If they are out of the U.S. I order whatever they want within the set price limit and have it shipped to them, thus keeping my cost down from the Free shipping.
