I'm on Blogger, so I just use my Dashboard to check for blog updates, but I know a Wordpress blogger who keeps up with all the blogs she follows using Google Reader.

I was wondering if anyone else on Blogger prefers Google Reader, and if so, what are the advantages of reading blogs that way.

Thanks!

Lighter fonts are harder to read within GR, yes. If she's reading from her computer, there's no reason why she can't just click on the post title to view it directly on your blog. With the mobile apps, if you have set your blog up to show a mobile version of your blog, I think it would still be difficult to read, but a person on a mobile phone could still choose to view the original version as opposed to the mobile version, too. I can on my phone, at least. I don't know if other mobile phones work the same way, but I'm petty sure that function is built in to the website/internet and not the phone's software.

Aren't they one and the same?

I mean that the same software runs both but with different interface?

Aren't what one in the same?
The Blogger dashboard is Google Reader with a different interface.
Oh, oh, oh... I thought it was, but I didn't want to assume since I'm not familiar with blogger. Just wanted to make sure you weren't replying to something I posted. Sorry! :)

It looks that way to me! But Dashboard only gives you the first few lines of a post so that you have to click on the title to read the rest of it.

Yes, Google Reader allows me to comment.  I guess it might depends on if you use an app, maybe not all apps do.  I have been using this app:http://nowsci.com/grss-web/ It has worked well so far, but I am always looking for better ones.

I like it because you can tell which blogs you have visited and which ones you have not read yet. With so many blogs out there, some of the names are close and it is a great tool if you like to keep up. You can also put a star on your favorites, maybe those you read more often and it makes them easier to pick out.

I just started using it myself so I am sure there are many more applications.

Can you organize blogs by category with GR? That could be helpful.  I used to keep my blogroll under two profiles but when I combined under one profile recently all the cooking, style, photograpy, decor, and book blogs I read are all jumbled up.
Indeed, you can put the feeds you are following in groups, and read them that way, or, as I do, just leave them all together and scroll through by date. Most people put the full post content in the feed, so you can read it without clicking through. If I want to comment or explore further, I click the title. You can also send to fb, twitter, digg, etc directly from GR, which is handy for social networking. I wish google connect and google reader were better coordinated.
Thanks!!
I do. It's an easy way to keep track of the many sites I like to read without bookmarking dozens of pages. Additionally, it adds an aspect of readability to pages that might be formatted in a strange or illegible way.
