Whose Blog Deserves a Follow? Why become a follower?

Why Become a Follower?

There are three reasons that readily come to mind. First, the content is outstanding and you sincerely enjoying the blogger's style, voice, and opinions. Second, it's a great way to network. Third, it's a positive way to support another blogger.

Share three of your favorites with us and we'll check them out. One of the three may be your own.

I don't follow many Book blogs, but here are the few I like to read:

1) Tea at Trianon -- The blog of Historical novelist Elena Maria Vidal, who wrote Trianon, Madame Royale and The Night's Dark Shade. She has lots of links to articles of interest, and also reviews books and movies. Everything I know about Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, I've learned from her!

2) Ribbons of Light -- A great blog by a homeschooled girl who loves nineteenth century novels--everyone from Austen to Dickens! She also writes about film and TV adaptations, and Period dramas. (Warning: it's one of those musical blogs! LOL)

3) Jo Talk -- One of Historical Romance author Jo Beverley's blogs, but not really her main one. (She also blogs at the more lively Word Wenches, but I find the discussions there hard to join.)
I'm new to the whole book blog scene ;) So I am only discovering other book blogs and haven't developed an opinion as to which ones I like best. I have signed up to follow other blogs that I have found similar to my interests. I not only follow the blogs I like but I like to comment and actually discuss the books that each other read. Responding to thoughful comments on my blog is my favorite part.

A couple that come to mind:
Book City Chick
Should be Reading

Feel free to swing by my blog and "talk books!"
Happy Reading!

2 many good books
Simcha : "Many book blogs seem to get followers by running contests in which you have to become a follower to enter. I decided to try this approach, and while it does seem to work, I now wonder if any of my followers are actually interested in the content I offer or if they are just following me in hopes of winning the contest."

I know what you mean. I decided that when I have a contest, there won't be any additional votes for followers. If someone's following me, I want to be certain that it's for my content rather than my contest.
I love following mostly quirky blogs. My blog http://evagordon.blogspot.com is a wee bit odd. I interview famous werewolves during the full moon and offer werewolf advice. I write paranormal 'wolfish' romance that includes wolf and werewolf lore and mythology. When I'm not writing I do workshops on wolf and werewolf lore for writers and other interested parties.
Thank you Marian and Eva for your thoughts.
A newer blog I've been following is Helen Loves Books. Laura's Reviews is another favorite of mine. I will also shamelessly plug my own blog, English Major's Junk Food.

When following blogs I usually only pick blogs where I know I will find books I'm interested in reading. Sometimes I will follow a blog though if they have interesting posts about reading in general.
Thanks Ash and Prue for the blog recommendations. I can't wait to visit these blogs.
Ok, there are quite a few book blogs i really enjoy but the main 3 are;
Find Your Next Book Here
Written by a stay-at-home Mum named Jenners who has a great way of putting inventive and comical spins on her book reviews.
BOOKLUST
Aarti, the 20-something Chicagoan, writes some great reviews and the blog has some great followers.
and finally, my blog
Books, Books Everywhere
I read, almost, a book a day and try to put up a new book review most days.
Great choices!

I've just found a new reason to be a Follower:

I follow a blog if it has an original--and not too popular--weekly link up that I don't want to miss.
I tend to read book blogs regularly, and comment to their posts as well. I realize though there are so many great book blogs out there, and as much as I would love to support all and follow all, I can't.
The blogs, that I do follow need to have some "pizazz" or an extra bit of personality, or else it would just be like any other. I also love it when bloggers are not too formal, and are friendly to their readers & followers. I follow when I feel that their main purpose is 1) to read& to write 2) to reach out to fellow readers.

Here are just 3 of my favs. I have so many though!
1. my cozy book nook
2. Imagination in Focus
3. The Royal Reviews

And here is mine :) -----> Random Ramblings
