My apologies for the jumbled look of the later paragraphs in my comment.  There's something wrong with this site's comment editor.  I couldn't scroll up and down properly -- the button kept jumping up and down at will.  Also, when I inserted the correct space between the paragraphs, and then hit "save", the changes were not saved.

Also, there is a typo in my first comment... the word "rotted" should be "rooted".  Woe is me.....

Well, every theme in fiction has its day. Vampires weren't nearly as heavily featured in fiction 10 yrs ago, but is cyclical, and will probably fade out after awhile.  Dystopia is now the rage in YA..
I second that :) Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Matched... all kinds of dystopia craze in the YA world right now!

My stepdad was trying for YEARS to sell vampire fiction, only to be told no one was buying.  And this was before Twilight and Harris, etc.  Sigh.

Oh, it's about to get worse!!  Lots of dystopia on the horizon.

I think next is Greek Mythology- I am seeing alot of ARCs in that niche :)

Its something new right now, a fad. I have a few friends that its all they read. One of them recently told me that she is just trying to fill the void after the Twilight saga :) People did the same thing after Harry Potter!

Once you have found something you LOVE, you ache to find more of it!

As for me, I never thought I would like a vampire book and put off Twilight several times. I finally read it and loved the story line :)
