Do you enjoy reading?  Why do you enjoy reading?  What types of books do you read?  Why do you read these types of books?  Do you believe that a person's reading preferences are subjective or objective?

Love your "measure"  for why to read.  Nice

Reading has been a lifelong joy (minus textbooks, of course and some required reading through the school years, lol). My writer and editing experiences have gotten in the way of some of the enjoyment. Still, I try not to analyze too much why I'm reading something--I try to keep it light and fun--and try to get past grammatical errors, etc. I can deal w/POV shifts, but can't do head-hopping. Makes me crazy.

Thanks for adding me as a friend, Laura. Imagine how cool it will be when I have a clued what I'm doing here!

I love to read; and it's been my love since I taught myself to read aged 4.  It used to be an escape for me as I was a sick child... but now, it's just something to love as I open the pages and jump into another world.  I used to read only horror books and a little bit of literature; but now - since joining Bookcrossing - I have enjoyed all kinds of books from a huge range of writers and genres.
I like this response. Sometimes, I read b/c reading material is there. Makes me happy. I've been known to read bottles of cleaner when nothing else is available, :)

I really enjoy reading, I would much rather read than watch TV.  My favourite genre is Fantasy.  I like all kinds of Fantasy: contemporary fantasy or urban fantasy, paranormal romances, high-fantasy.

I also like lots of other genres, like: suspense, historical fiction, horror....

Basically, I like a good story that makes sense and has a good plot. I like reading series, but I prefer a book that has a good ending and can stand on its own.  I do not really like cliff-hanger books.
