Why wont people shut up and let you read without being called a nerd!

when you get into a book your reading no one will leave you alone,and your begging them to leave you alone.and they tell you your obssesed but its just reading a book,maybe they should pick up one.

I find the term "nerd" to be a total compliment. 

 

I'm an eBookworm, or eBook nerd, and I love it :) Books are my favorite hobby.

I don't have this problem, but I teach at a middle school this year. Those poor "nerdy" kids. I've only seen the pestering once or twice, but I've only been there three weeks! My heart goes out to them.

 

I remember having problems with my family when I was growing up doing this, but now that I'm adult I can do my own thing. I hope these kids (and you guys) never stop reading because of this situation.

I really don't have a problem, I spend more time reading than watching the TV, its an escapism and its tailored all for the sort of thing I like.  My own Personal Channel of Escapism.  Remember There's no Budget on Imagination.  LOL

Watching TV is also a form of escapism (basically anything that keeps you from doing something with your life is), with the difference that TV usually doesn't spark your imagination.

Very true, I maybe spend 1 hour a week or so watching tv, thats it. Rest of the time im reading, and then blogging what i've read. It's so much fun to escape with your imagination than to see it on screen :-D

That is my biggest pet peeve!!!!  I think it's rude and no different than interrupting somebody while they are talking or in the restroom.  So rude!
