YA vs. PRN Adult Books
Hi everyone.
I am a writer who is in the process of writing A young adult series and I also write Paranormal Romance under a different Pen name. My question is... would you rather read YA or PNR? I know the market is in YA right now, but I would love to have your thoughts and opinions on both.

I think both markets are pretty popular right now. Young Adult is very popular...personal opinion is that teenagers have a lot more time to read and people like to feel like they're young again by reading them when they are older. Also, themes tend to stay cleaners and lighter than some adult books. Paranormal romance is also a big thing - you can tell by the billions of tv shows like that on. I'm not sure that I would say one is more popular than another. Both seem like they would be popular.

To be honest Chelsea, write what your heart tells you. Trying to tailor for the market is usually going to end up with something that either won't sell (as publishers are at times nearly a year ahead of whats out now) or is doomed to crash and burn as you get stuck. This will also dent your confidence in your ability which is something you shouldn't have to worry about.
Just have fun, listen to the muses and if it turns out one way or the other its all good. People love a tale that takes them on a journey and with authors like Kathy Reichs as well as Philippa Gregory writing YA now it might be something to monitor rather than jump in with.
