I haven't read a lot of YA (yet that's why I'm involved in the YA challenge) but so far I'd have to say I'm in love with 'Nick and Norah' but 'Looking for Alaska' (John Green) had a pretty massive impact on me.
My favorites ever are Charlotte's Web and the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. In terms of recent YA I just picked up some of Tamora Pierce's most recent books in the Circle of Magic series but haven't read them yet.
Alice Hoffman, Robin McKinley Martin Millar and Rachel Caine are among my favorites however I just finished The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and am now considering it to be the BEST story I have ever read.
Don't let the cover or the back flap dissuade you, this story is fabulous! The characters are magically drawn and the plot is heart wrenching. Be prepared to cry...

I had a thing for series when I was growing up: Harry Potter, the Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, they were all there. Individually? Judy Blume pops into mind. I think I need more YA in my life. :)
