After earning his Ph.D. from Colorado State University and training in residence at Children’s Medical Center (Tulsa, Ok), Dr. Z began his clinical psychology career as a circuit-rider traveling the deserts and mountains of New Mexico. After retreating from practice in villages and on Indian reservations, he branched out into professional walkabouts to Southeast Asia and the islands of the South Pacific. Finally turning to what his wife called “more civilized” work, he went to Germany as counselor for soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently Dr. Z practices, from straight back chairs and a table—still refusing a therapy couch, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Quarter Life Crisis
