Our Beck Valley Book Review - Card School by Andrew Milner Author 'The way that his strength, dreams and hope give him the desire to fulfill his destiny along with a twist thrown in keeps the reader enrapt.'.....

"Ever read Tom Brown School days, if you have then you will love this story. An excellent novel full of emotion, leading the main character through his escapades and adventures which will take him to his ultimate destiny.

Based around a boarding school the author has shown he has done his research into what it is like to be a boarder and the tradition of the school. Every boarding school has secrets which are held by staff, past pupils and most importantly by the head.

When his parents are killed and not wanted by his aunt, Michael Dawson is sent to Saint Sebastians Academy. As Michael finds his place in the school, learning the rules and traditions it leads him to the local woods where the first of the strange experiences and sights appear to him. The traits and characteristics which are ascribed to Michael are first class and make for a very emotive story.

This book had me hooked from the first page, the excellent description of school boarding life and the very strong emotions of a ten year old boy abandoned and alone in the world. The way that his strength, dreams and hope give him the desire to fulfill his destiny along with a twist thrown in keeps the reader enrapt."

The NEW #hot #romance from Melissa Foster Dreaming of Love releases today!! 'I cannot recommend this story and series enough.' reviews A Soccer Mom's Book Blog

I am not sure what to say about this book that I have not said about the rest in this series. They are all absolutely amazing. I started with book #1 in the Love in Bloom series and am always anxiously waiting the next book to be released. I always think that the male in that book will be my favorite, yet with each book I get a new favorite.

Dae Bray (sigh) is amazing. The romance, the love, the understanding all makes him the best so far. The fact that Dae and Emily have pretty much opposite jobs, yet he doesn’t think twice about it being an issue between them makes his true feelings shine through. There is never a doubt that Emily and Dae will end up together.

From the first time Melissa Foster brought Emily into the books, I wanted to know her story. I knew she would find her happy every after, I mean she is a Braden, but who, when, and where??? Of all the female characters in this series she is the toughest, the roughest, and the most deserving. Her upbringing of being raised by a single mom with all those brothers around her could not possibly be easy. Then she goes on to be so successful, yet all alone. I was thrilled with Dreaming of Love came out and was Emily’s story.

Once again, I cannot recommend this story and series enough. Each one is its own story, yet by reading them in order you get a much better feel for the characters and who belongs with who and how then ended up there. There are so many characters left that I need to know more about I patiently await the next book in this series.

Check out the full post and catch up on all the books in the Love in Bloom series here....

Our Beck Valley Book Review of Monster Squad: The Iron Golem by Christian Page

http://beckvalleybooks.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/book-review-monster-s...

"An excellent story for any young reader. Scooby Doo mixed with the Hardy Boys and the one and only Alfred Hitchcock's three investigators series.

The author's really clever use of the characters is totally incredible. The story is full of mystery, monsters and 4 children who have powers they have yet to discover, who are being hunted by the strange professor who is running the nearby academy.

The author keeps the reader enrapt by following each individuals life story and what links them to an incident in the New Mexico desert in 1938. The really clever thing is the the characters are based on historic fictional horror characters from the past who are given a modern twist in order for them to be believable. The fact that these 4 young people are trying to find their way through their school years, facing the normal school age problems coupled with finding out who they really are makes for an excellent read.

Taking a lot of mystery, myths, horror stories and characters from the past author Christian Page has blended them all together to produce a classic and anyone who likes tradition with a modern twist will love this novel and the ones to follow.

Parents this book is a must read for teenagers, can you remember the Brother Grimm, Frankenstein and the mystery of Roswell, this book brings them to life in the modern day. Praise to the author and his creative genius."
