The Import & Export feature in Blogger is now live and can be accessed from the Settings tab of your Blogger dashboard.
With "Export Blog," you can easily create a complete backup of your Blogger blog on to the hard drive and this may come handy in situations when you accidentally delete some old blog post or if Google blocks your blog due to policy violations - at least you’ll have a local copy of all the content that you may publish elsewhere.
Other that creating a safe backup, you may also use the export (followed by import) function to merge multiple blogs into one.
Important: The XML file created by Blogger is not compatible with external blogging platforms so if you like to move blogs from Blogger to WordPress, use the built-in import function available inside WordPress.
Thank you so much for this! I tried it and it worked beautifully! (I exported my whole blog and then imported it into a backup blog.) Now I can play with my layout and hopefully expand it to three columns without mishap!
I could be wrong but this may just be backing up your posts and comments. Make sure that you save a copy of your template somewhere on your computer as well.
Thank you so much for this. Now that I actually look at it, I hadn't seen this particular section and it seems to be implying that I could change to WordPress if I wanted! I figured that would just be too difficult and involve copy/pasting each post.
WordPress does have a import from blogger feature already built in. I must admit, I'm partial to WordPress. It might be worth the try. But you definitely don't have to copy and paste each post.

It's actually a new feature. :) Wordpress.com does have some limitations, which is why I've stuck with blogger for my personal blog. Just my two cents. :)
WordPress.com does have it's limitations, but if you self-host your wordpress blog, the options are endless. They are almost like two different blogging platforms. I suppose it all depends what you are start off with. Blogger confuses me. And I know Wordpress confuses others. I think it's good to take a look at all of your options and decide what your goals are and does the platform hinder that goal or make it harder for you.
I have a template made by someone else but everything is centered and I'm trying to find out how to fix it so I can have 2 sidebars. Also, my header is too big. What can I do?
