Commenting, Tweeting, Networking, Still Few Followers

Hi Everyone, 

 

I've had my blog Read.Breathe.Relax for awhile, but I've recently decided to really build it up. I post 4-5 times a week, comment on similar blogs, tweet my posts and network (like on here!) and feel like I'm making little progress. I have some followers but the fan base doesn't seem to be growing too much. 

 

Has anyone else experienced this? What helped you get out of a follower-slump? What else can I do to build followers? 

 

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Wow, I really enjoyed reading this thread. I am a brand new blogger so I am learning all this in advance. But it sure gives me lots of ideas. Now to just begin blogging. That seems to be the hardest part for me.

I just take it as it comes Kayle. A fellow blogger with more experience said to me that she always hesitates before pressing the enter key, in case other bloggers think what she is posting is silly, but then it just shows that what she has posted is a reflection of who she is and I for one love her blog. I picked up a lot of tips from her. Her blog if you are interested is http://www.reflectionsofabookaholic.com/. I have found that most bloggers on here are willing to share their advice and offer help, so never be afraid to ask.

Hi Lisa,

 

For 3 years I had 5 steady followers and I was thankful for them.  Now I have over 60, since joining Book Blogs and Twitter.  It takes time, but once you find what your readers like, you will gain followers.  Don't expect this to happen overnight, but if you host giveaways, I find that is a great way to get people to check out your blog, and the more interesting things you have on your blog, the more you'll gain followers.  It's a slow and steady process, but it can be done.  I appreciate all my followers, but I have to say, I will always be indebted to the 5 that hung in there with me since day 1.  It's nice to have people follow.

 

Now my problem is getting people to comment on your blog.  Some will and some won't.  It just all depends.  You never know, but keep on trying regardless!  I never give up, even when I feel like I should, I just don't!

I love to comment on blogs. Especially if it's about a subject which I'm passionate about. Also if someone has done a good book review, then I comment on that too!

I'm looking for ways to increase my blog traffic. I've gotten over 100 followers but my blog traffic is still low. I'm posting my blog updates in many places including here, goodreads, facebook and twitter. Does anyone have any suggestions?
