I need the 411 on blogging as this is my first time doing it. I've got a new book out, and while I like to review other authors' books, I would also like people to review min. help :S

Well, the publishers won't send me more than one free copy for now. I actually have to buy a whole bunch at a discount. I guess I'll do that when I get enough cash. For now, Idon't mind sharing a PDF copy of the book. However, It's 5 megabites and I'm not sure I can attach it here. Should I ask for people's emails and then send it to them seperately, or should I post my own and if they want they can write to me asking for a soft copy of the book?

Hi, Yasser! You've asked two separate questions but lumped them in together. The first is you want information on blogging. You're kind of in the wrong place to find out about blogging. I mean, I know that this IS the Blogging Tips forum, but being an author with a blog is slightly different than being a reader with a blog. I would suggest you join some online writers' groups, because I know the subject of blogging and websites comes up frequently with writers.

I would recommend you read A Reader's Guide to Author Websites and What to Include on Author Websites.

The other part of your question is how to get people to review your book. I see that you posted on this ning group asking people to review your book, but I'll be honest in saying that it's hard to get people to review your book. I would recommend that you google book blogs (or check out the profile of anyone on this ning group) and start checking out various blogs. Make sure that if you ask someone to read your book, that it's a genre they've indicated they're interested in. I can tell you that you'll have a tough time getting people to review your book since it's self-published, but it can be done. You'll just need to be persistent and put in a lot of work.
