Through a pingback today, I found out that some blogger copy and pasted an entire post of mine as one of their entries, granted they did site my blog name with link as the source. It still feels wrong that they took the entire post. I already left a comment (there is no e-mail address at all) asking them to remove the post. The blog is only 2 months old, and it looks like all of the posts are taken directly from other websites. I'm not sure what the next step would be from here though. Is there is anyone I could actually take something like this up with? It is a Wordpress blog, if that matters.

I think this sort of thing is to be expected in the blog-world, and can't do any harm if your blog name was given as the source. It's great that the link was given; that's an added bonus that we would expect but don't always get. The reappearance of our material with proper citation is one way that others get to learn about our own blogs and come visit them. I'm curious, though. Did this other blogger's site include any information about their raison d'etre or the fact that they will rely heavily on providing other people's blog posts to support their reason for being? Either way, I think you'll see this happen now and then, and it's more a good thing in blog-world than a bad thing, IMO.

Good morning Nari and welcome to blogging. They may not have "stolen" it, but what happens is that if someone is following your blog (test it on another you are following) and you have written a post that they think their followers would like to read, at the bottom of the blog there are "share" symbols, google buzz, facebook, twitter etc. One of those is a "blog this" symbol. If someone selects that it will copy your post to their blog.

Don't be offended by this. It's nice to think that someone enjoyed your posting. It also means that it may bring you more followers as it credits your blog automatically as where the post came from. So you may find you get some new followers. Don't be angry but be proud someone enjoyed it.

Hope that helps.

So...I guess I over react a bit then, huh? I just find the whole situation odd because the post that was used was not a normal post of mine. I just joined a new weekly meme. Also, all the other posts/links were finance related. There is nothing on the blog anywhere about its intent and purpose. Its just a random mish-mash of posts collected from the Internet.
Wow, I disagree with what others have said.  If you like someone's blog article, you post a link to it with credit, you don't re-post the content.  If you want it taken down and you can't reach the the blog owner, you can definitely contact Wordpress.
