Freshly off her blog tour, Diane Craver has come to guest blog on Long Live Chick Lit. She shares a personal story about some of the struggles found in the writing career. Come and stop by if you have a moment.

Elena G. Just curious, why limit to Australia? The beauty of the internet and blog tours is that you can reach a global audience.

Advice:
Try to find a good mix of book related and author sites to add to your tour.
Try to find sites that deal with the topic of the book.
Get reviews of the book listed on review sites.

This is the basics for getting a good mix of sites and therefore audience during your tour. You will be able to reach your target market and keep the tour interesting enough to follow.

A fan should be able to learn something new about the writer or the book at each stop. This is why it's a good idea to mix interviews with reviews.

I suggest organising a media kit for the tour containing information about the book and author to send out to possible sites. Not only does this mean you have all the information in one easy to send file (word or pdf are best) but it also looks more porfessional and makes it easy for the interviewer to come up with questions. Here's an example of one I did for my book 'Italian for Tourists'
Media Kit for Italian For Tourists Pocket.doc

It's worth sending the media kit to PR sites too as this can mean extra exposure and therefore makes it easier to find more stops.

Good luck.

Hi guys, I'm normally reviewing the books!

But this time I'm looking for Australian bloggers who review non-fiction books who would be interested in hosting a blog tour for Steve Bedwell, author of Holden Vs Ford. (more info at http://www.rockpoolpublishing.com.au/books.php?name=holden-v-ford)

please drop me a line at elena.gomez@rockpoolpublishing.com.au

Also I'd love to welcome any advice/tips on organising a blog tour that anyone may have.

Cheers!

Barbara Bretton has generously offered to give away - a copy of Laced with Magic + a copy of Casting Spells, + one book bag - to 5 lucky commenters.

It seems that the evil fae queen Isadora was messing with Barbara's computer causing her difficulties in responding to comments.

Barbara values what you have to say, so she has also asked me to extend the contest deadline to 8-17-09 at 11:59 PM Hawaii time.
