Way to go Natasha. Don't you just love it that there ARE authors are willing to comment honestly and not get upset?

FYI everybody - THIS is how authors should respond to less than steller book reviews. My faith has been restored! I'm loving Joe Cottonwood right now!!

Hi guys, thanks to whoever invited me. Natasha I really like the way you've worded that and will be adding something similar to my blog. At present I've taken off the blurb I had up about accepting review copies because I need to play catchup with my TBR pile, but when I decide to start accepting again I definitely need a revised policy due to recent events in the blog world!

I see wonderful things happening here and can't wait to participate. Thanks to all.

Thank you Natasha. I used it as a template and changed it to fit me. I hope it cuts down on the number of offers I get that are outside my tastes too!

Sure! I actually saw some of the wording somewhere else. I have since modified it a bit. You can see the whole thing HERE. It has cut down on the number of emails I receive for books that are well outside my reading genre.

Maw, that is excellent! Can I borrow some of it?

This is excellent, 'Maw'. I'm not sure there's a whole lot more to add.

This is what I currently have posted on my blog and now would like to tweek it a bit after this whole fiasco:

"I’m more than happy to accept review copies and catalogs from authors and publishers and participate in blog tours and author interviews. However, due to the overwhelming amount of requests I receive, I am selective about the titles I accept. If you don’t hear back from me, don’t fret. Try another title later.

This blog, the Maw Books Blog and it’s accompanying website is a voluntary, part time effort written by a lover of books and certified bookworm. I’m a prolific reader and as such I review every single book I read, whether it be Fiction, YA, Middle Grade Fiction, Picture Books, Memoir, Non-Fiction, Parenting, etc. I normally do not read mysteries, romance, chick-lit, thrillers, political thrillers, or erotica. I also tend to dislike books that are particularly vulgar, overly sexual, and has an unusual amount of foul language. To get an idea of my reading tastes visit both my reading list and my library of books I own.

My acceptance of a review copy does not guarantee that I will write a review, but if I do finish the book I will write a review. I do not guarantee that the review will be positive. I write reviews that I feel are honest and will help my readers select quality books for their reading time.

I try to read the review titles that I receive in a timely manner but do to time constraints and other reading interests it sometimes takes a few months to read what I receive. I really do try, but I promise that I will get to everything.

I do not receive any compensation for writing reviews. The only money that I currently make from my blog is from Amazon, whereby I get a small commission if you click through a product link from my site and make a purchase during that same session.

As of September 2008, this blog receives currently receives about 25,000 visitors a month, has an Alexa rank of 236,654, and a Technorati authority of 194.

All that said, feel free to contact me if interested with your review requests."

What would you add?
