Review Update!

The Dead Days Journal

The Dead Days Journal : Volume 1The Dead Days Journal : Volume 1
By: Sandra R. Campbell
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

( I received this book free from the author in exchange for my honest review )

3.5 Stars

I'm on the fence about this one. There are a lot of aspects I liked and a lot I didn't. Though it was an interesting read, I'm not sure if I actually liked this book or dislike it. It's hard to put down in words. I believe it's because I went into this book with a different image, (one I gather from the book cover and synopsis), thinking one thing and getting another. In any case it was misleading. (I seem to be getting a lot of those lately)Despite all that, this read did keep my interest.

A Book Gadget

While looking around on line today I came across this nifty little gadget ... and I want one!

What is it?

I'm so glad you asked!

It's called THE THUMB THING and it would allow me to read one handed, comfortably.

Why?  Go over to my blog and find out.

Ruth Rendell, crime novelist and politician, 1930-2015

By: Barry Forshaw

Ruth Rendell With the death of Ruth Rendell at the age of 85, five months after her friend and fellow writer PD James, each of the women who in collegiate fashion shared the title of Britain’s queen of crime fiction is now gone. But of the two, both members of the House of Lords, Rendell was the edgier, more astringent novelist, more prepared to take the reader into truly Stygian territory.

The era when women writers furnished unchallenging Home Counties mysteries, while male writers handled the more violent, disturbing fare, is fading. These days, female crime novelists leap in to examine the darkest recesses of the human psyche. The progenitor of this sea change in the UK was Rendell, who incorporated layers of psychological realism into her crime fiction.
