LIterature vs Fiction
yes, there are lots of Canadian books but which ones count as literature and which are not? Does age of book count or can a newly written book qualify?
I just read 'February' by Lisa Moore, would that count as literature?

Personally I like to count most Canadian authors/books set in Canada as Canadian Lit. I mean, I guess if it were a romance novel that wouldn't count (Harlequin - I'm just not interested in stuff like that). But as far as promoting Canada to the world I definitely think the newer stuff - like Lisa Moore - should be considered.

My thought is that it should be a book that will be in print for a longer period of time and still be worth reading 5years, 10 years and even further down the road. Melanie, thanks for your comments. It seems I am thinking along similar lines to you.
