I was wondering if you would like to read the book, "MY MIRACLE?" YOU MUST READ ABOUT THIS BOOK because it is based on a true story that to some people is simply unbelievable. And, check out http://SharingMiracles.net to see what people are saying about the book. Click on to the center link on the "Share your miracle page." I look forward in hearing from you. Take care and please have a wonderful blessed day. Rodney

"Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" is a wonderful book. You'll really enjoy it.

I thought I'd mention that I have some Mormon cousins. I just finished reading and reviewing The Mormon Mirage by Latayne C. Scott. It's a thorough, easy to understand nonfiction book that helped me to understand Mormon teachings/theology and why so many Mormons are leaving the LDS church (the many changes that have been made to their scriptures, the lack of historical accuracy of their scriptures, etc.). The book is written by a woman who was once an ardent Mormon but who is now a Christian.

Reading the book made me realize again how blessed we are that our belief/faith is set on a firm foundation, that of the Bible and Jesus Christ's redeeming work. (Incidentally, I'm also holding a giveaway of "The Mormon Mirage" for anyone interested in reading it.)

Thank you so much for your comment Debbie. the Bible and the Land sounds like a good book and The Spangler and Tverberg book just made my reading list. Thanks.

I just finished reading A Passion for the Impossible by Miriam Huffman Rockness. It's a fascinating biography of Lilias Trotter (1853-1928) who did outreach work to women in England and then went to Algeria as a missionary. I enjoyed learning about the early missionary movement. I also liked how, even though Lilias couldn't see the bigger picture of why the bad things happened against her missionary work, the reader of the biography can clearly see why God allowed them to happen--they forced her work in new, more effective directions. I found it encouraging.

I also just finished reading The Bible and the Land by Gary M. Burge. This is a small Bible reference book which delves into the ancient context of (i.e. how the Jews at the time would have understood) various Bible motifs like 'the good shepherd," water, bread, rocks, etc. I've been reading several books like this (Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus: How the Jewishness of Jesus Can Transform Your Faith by Ann Spangler & Lois Tverberg is the most excellent one to date), and they've really helped me go deeper in my understanding of the Bible.
