NEW LOVE, FIRST LOVE

John Stanton has lost the love of his life to cancer. Even though he has tried to move on with his life and has remarried, he still longs for his first wife, Jenny. His marriage to Darlene lacks true love, and John longs for contentment in his life. A chance meeting with a stunning waitress named Wendy Burke changes his outlook. He is instantly drawn to her, and this attraction leads to a chain of events that transforms his life. John’s naive daughter, Maggie is curious about love. When she sees Wendy's handsome devil-may-care cousin Michael for the first time, she instantly falls in love with him. She is determined to have him. Michael has had many women in his past, but has resisted true love at every turn. He knows that he should resist Maggie, and tries to forget about her. But forgetting the beautiful Maggie Stanton would turn out to be the hardest thing he had ever done.

Here's an interesting interview iwith longtime writer Janet Chester Bly who has written numerous books both alone and with her husband. Their writing runs the gamut from Christian devotions to Western Romance and self-help books. They've long been in the spotlight as writers and speakers. Now writing on her own after the recent death of her husband, she's still inspiring and helping others in their craft and giving readers some delightful books to review. Here's the link;

A story of love, family, and learning to trust...

When injured police officer Sean McKittrick heads to his cottage, he’s planning on some much needed rest and recuperation. But the idyllic peace he expected to find is shattered by…children?

It’s not that Sean dislikes kids, he just isn’t interested in having any of his own. Or in settling down, for that matter. Ever. Unfortunately, the woman in charge of his young neighbors has an unsettling way of making him forget why.

Grace Daniels is attractive, single, and despite her brave face, overwhelmed by the responsibility of caring for three nieces and a nephew. When she helps Sean out of a jam, he feels obliged to return the favor, but he soon realizes there’s more to this cobbled-together little family than meets the eye. Grace is hiding something, a secret that piques Sean’s cop suspicions—and stirs his protective instincts.

As Sean digs for the truth, however, the line between professional curiosity and personal interest becomes increasingly blurred. A family might not be quite what he had in mind for his future, but he’s beginning to wonder if he can live without this one…or if he wants to.

Milked
A Modern Mommy Tale with a Retro Twist
By Lisa Doyle
Publisher: Simon and Fig
Published: November 2014
ISBN: 978-0985352080
ASIN: B00OGNOWY2
Pages: 306
Genre: Contemporary Women's Fiction

A novel of motherhood, its many demands, and all the little triumphs along the way, MILKED is a warm and witty debut about making tough choices and traveling the roundabout road to happiness.

By and large, Amanda Keane makes pretty good decisions. Okay, she might not have the best taste in men, but she’s got great friends, a good job, and an independent spirit. That is, until her 30th birthday ushers in a whirlwind romance with a sexy Irish musician who leaves her, not at the altar as she imagined, but accidentally pregnant. And when he disappears, she’s downsized out of a job, her apartment is robbed, and lapsed health insurance coverage leaves her with a C-section to pay for, Amanda is launched headfirst into the life of a broke single mom. But her friend and uber successful ob-gyn, Joy, clues her in to an unlikely temp position with one of Chicago’s celebrity elite that just may be the answer to all her woes. Or could it be just the beginning?

It’s with serious trepidation that Amanda embarks on her surprisingly lucrative new career: underground wet nurse to the offspring of Chi-town’s rich and famous. Amanda must quickly understand how to live at the whims and mercy of the one percent as she deals with the irony of nursing – and loving – someone else’s child, while still making ends meet for her own daughter. And then there’s Cute Daycare Dad (aka Dan), who’s obviously interested in her. But can she afford to tell him what she really does for a living? Is her new job (something she thought went out with the 19th century) a shameful thing? Just another way of selling her body? Or does it have something to teach her after all?

Catching Heat by Alison Packard

Cute but predictable!
The author has done her job but hasn't taken any risk.
So, it's a nice easy read.
