On December 1st, 2010, Terrene Press released Progeny: The Children of the White Lions. Rather than regale you with our own words about the book, here is feedback from third parties:
“When I picked up Progeny, I was soon swept up into a world so large, and a tale so relentless, that I could not put it down. The plot flows as strongly as a waterfall but manages to pace itself and keep the reader guessing.
The disparate characters we meet along the way are intriguing and richly nuanced, reminding one of Tolkien's without being derivative. This is a big book and a big world, surprisingly well conceived for a first novel. I very much look forward to the next book in the series, and I strongly encourage Mr. Kaelin to keep writing.”
-D. Kistner, Associate Editor of FutureCycle Press
"Progeny is the debut novel of R.T. Kaelin and I have to say I was really impressed. The story moves right along, but Kaelin takes the time to flesh it out and give the world and the characters depth. I got caught up and wanted to know what happens next. Not to mention wanting to know more and more about the world I was immersed into.
Overall, I would favorably compare his writing with Brandon Sanderson, Scott Lynch, (early) Robert Jordan and even a bit of David Eddings flavor mixed in. I really enjoyed this book and my biggest disappointment is going to be waiting for the next installment."
-C. Shadis, reviewer at LibraryThing.com
The 655-page fantasy novel is the tale of two young siblings - a brother and sister - whose home is destroyed, friends and neighbors lost, and lives are forever changed after a vicious attack on their village by a stranger. The event spurs the pair into a strange world where they discover their heritage has little to do with being the children of simple farmers. Swept up by myth and magic, they discover their destiny is much more than they could have ever imagined.

Permalink Reply by bestcritic on January 22, 2011 at 11:15pm I would be interested in the interview. I have posted a discussion on Network your blog group where I am inviting all willing writers to be interviewed by me. However, I think I will not be able to read a 655 page novel. Also, I live in India and shipping costs might be very large for you. So sorry, I cannot review it, but I can include information about the book along with the interview. My blog is http://www.reviewcarnival.blogspot.com and I have interviewed authors before.
The interview questions can be found at Network your Blog group post Looking for authors/bloggers to interview or you can e-mail me at elementswater13@yahoo.com and I will send you the interview questions.

Permalink Reply by R.T. Kaelin on January 31, 2011 at 9:38am New review for Progeny is out at Clover Hill Book Reviews:
"Anyone who enjoys adventure stories or magical and paranormal I would suggest you give this a try. For me Progeny is in league with both The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings and far better than Harry Potter - Progeny has a wealth of depth to it that I haven't seen in many books. For all of it's 650+ pages, Progeny is the biggest book I've read for a while - however it is also substantial in content and storyline. I've enjoyed it immensely from start to finish and am really looking forward to whatever happens next - it's sure to be good after the high bar R.T. Kaelin has made with Progeny. A highly recommended read, this is a great story of epic proportions, which I would love to see this as a film. "
