Menagerie by Rachel Vincent

Very good surprise!

The story is well written with blood, suspense, racism, question about differences, acceptance, love, the value of a life… A lot of very modern questions cleverly hidden into a great story.

Like the plot with the Ménagerie full of mythological or fantasy creatures… Really cool read!

The Bollywood Bride by Sonali Dev

Darker with sometimes heavy emotions, Sonali Dev is leading the reader to a great romantic story. There is something really fresh about her plot.
Of course, it's a romantic love story but not an easy one. Nothing predictable.

Review Update! Exodia

Exodia (Exodia Ledgers, #1)Exodia
By: Debra Chapoton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

( I received this ARC free from the Author in exchange for my honest review )

I'm So-so on this book. The concept and idea was great, but I wasn't drawn into this world like I wanted.

The writing style, for me was flat, monotone. Everything was simply put, as it was. There was no jump, no spark; I didn't feel anything when reading. Well that's not all true at times I did feel anger, and discomfort. There was no depth to the writing, no pulling description on how the characters were feeling. I first took note to this when Dalton kills a man, who was beating on a red child. He processes what he had done a little too robotic. Yes guilt was present, but he only spoke of it, didn't really express it, and nor I did feel it or believe it. From there, the tone got flatter and flatter. I didn't feel the urgency, the rush, or the pain he must have been in. It was all very, forced.

The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress by Victoria Alexander

Lovely story with a funny adorable duo.
In trying to build some suspense and anticipation, the author has made me sigh once or twice. But she has nice characters who have saved me from my impatience.

Amidst the nightmarish wasteland that was New York City in the early 1970s through late 80s, one man rose above the anarchy and catapulted to the forefront of the city’s drug trade to become an undisputed king and a living legend. That man brought style and class to the classless and order to the chaos, ruling over his empire with an iron fist and a nickel-plated pistol. That man’s name was Walter King and ROYAL FAMILY is his story.

Follow Walter’s violent rise to power, the bloody wars he waged against reigning kingpins, and his sudden withdrawal from the game at the height of his notorious career.
