Review Update! The Last Knight

(Pendragon, #1)

The Last Knight (Pendragon, #1)The Last Knight (Pendragon #1)
By Nicola S. Dorrington
My rating: ★★★★☆

( I received this book free from the Author In exchange for my honest review )

After reading a slew of books that made my head hurt, this was refreshing. I was captured from the first chapter, no the first sentence. This story drew me in and immersed me into a beautiful, freighting world of legends, knights, honor, and kings. Before I knew it, the tale was over; and I was left with a bitter-sweet ending that left me wanting more.

Review Update! DONUM

DONUMDONUM
By: Alexandra Lane
My rating: ★★★☆☆

( I received this book free form the Author in exchange for my honest review. )

I wanted to like this book, I had high hopes but it wasn’t for me.

I found it slow going; nothing of major important happens until the last 15% the story. The other 85% was background filler. Its goes through Teal’s life from birth to teenager. I believe that could have been condensed down into the first two or three chapters. For me it was too drawn out. In truth from the synopsis I had the image that the story was going to pick up right when Teal was 16 or 17. That he was going to be fighting this evil that moved into his town, as in he was already in the town when the darkness arrives. So the start of the book threw me for a loop. .

Review Update! I Belong To The Earth

I Belong to the EarthI Belong to the Earth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

( I received this book free from the author in exchange for my honest review )

This was a different read for me, so far out of what I normally read. Not in genre but in the story and plot itself. This book is more than your run-of-the-mil YA supernatural/paranormal romance. It felt, to me, like a true ghost story. It wasn't about saving the world; it wasn't about anything other than a broken girl trying to save what little of her family she had left, while trying to come to teams with her own demons. I don't believe I have ever been so emotionally invested in a story before. My heart is still pounding.

Love, lots of love for this wonder.

Lately I've been reading a lot of books that have not lived up to their hype, or were misleading either in their book cover, synopsis or both. This book was everything I hoped for and more. The cover is near perfect and the synopsis doesn’t toss out fluff that leaves you confused while reading. .

3.5 Stars

I'm on the fence about this one. There are a lot of aspects I liked and a lot I didn't. Though it was an interesting read, I'm not sure if I actually liked this book or dislike it. It's hard to put down in words. I believe it's because I went into this book with a different image, (one I gather from the book cover and synopsis), thinking one thing and getting another. In any case it was misleading. (I seem to be getting a lot of those lately)Despite all that, this read did keep my interest.
