CLARA AND MR. TIFFANY BY SUSAN VREELAND
In reading the synopsis, I was intrigued by the policy of Louis Comfort Tiffany not to employ married women. That's what made me grabe the book. I was also attracted to the idea of learning more about Tiffany and the beginning of Art Nouveau current.
Since starting this book, I knew the lamps from Tiffany but the name itself was more synonymous of luxurious gems and jewelry than windows or enamel creations. So it was very instructive to dive into a novel that opens a window to the sublime New York of the late 19th century, the passage of oil lamps to electricity, the access to workshops and workers behind the scenes of luxury. The reader is reminding also of the conditions of women's work at this period. You learn a lot about beauty and art too.
A story based on real events which you may end up reading with a lump in your throat. A beautiful novel.

THE SECRET BY MORINDA MONTGOMERY
A historical and paranormal romance with a very nice pair of characters who are constantly searching themselves for lice in the head. For much of the novel, the reader follows Morgan and Brian, whose fathers have decided to unite. Neither one of them want this union to be celebrated and they are constantly trying to find ways to discourage their wacky family.
A funny and charming story enhanced by a secondary footprint ful of magic, werewolves and premonitions that are pretty nicely narrated.
