Rebecca says with force, “To hell with playing nice—that’s all we ever did for this government! Are we free or do they make all our decisions? I am not letting anyone take my niece. Who knows what will happen—we might never see her again!” She is on her feet pacing with her fists balled up. Rebecca’s words are like fire coming from her mouth.

Tia speaks and she is really emotional.
“Why is there this urgency with Ava? I think she is hiding something. There has to be more to this,” Tia says with curiosity.
I never speak, but when she says that I wonder if this has anything to do with the warning I got from David. The memo did say that I was a sleeper—one of the best they have seen. I have to figure out how the sleeper issue and Evey are connected, for now I will keep this to myself until the connection is made..
“What are we going to do?” Delores asks while rubbing my back.
We all get up and try to figure what the plans are for now.
“I think the best thing right now is defense,” Joy replies.
I am not sure if I can go along with that idea. If we wait for Ava to strike, then it may be too late for my Evey. Before I can show my concern, Orenda has my same thought and speaks.
“No—we can’t wait. That is a bad mistake. We need to take the offense and see what the plans are and who is behind this. What if the boss of the cleaners has no idea?”
“What if he does? They all could be behind this. We could be in this by ourselves,” I reply. I feel like we are in this alone and the more I think about Ava taking my baby, the more a sense of certainty comes over me.
