There are some great resources out there for finding out more about the new FTC Regulations. Some are on fellow blogger's sites, and some may be found other places. I thought this would be a good…Continue

So we should be okay to keep doing what we are doing right, Wendi?

I think it is going to be easier than we think. . . I'm hoping that a simple disclosure "I received this review book courtesy of ___" will work. I think they are really targeting the large blogs that have made a business out of advertising for companies (by that, I'm thinking of one or two that I'm aware of that sell ad space and endorse products while being paid by that company) I think most of us review books for the hobby aspect of it. :)

Lynette, I am keeping the emails in a folder online so if anything comes up and something is said..I have that email to go back and say hey...this is what was told to me and I am going by it and keeping my books.

I do reviews for a certain publishing company and recieved a book tour opt in invite and replied to it....in the bottom of the email that was sent to me the publicist put at the bottom that due to new FTC regulations that in my reviews I should put "This book was provided for review by the (insert publishing company here) " and to also include links for purchasing the book from the publishing company....I then sent and email back and asked her if the books were mine to keep afterwards and she replied back thay YES they were.

It sure is, Lynn. What are they gonna do? Have blogger police patrolling the net to seize all these sites? I don't see how they can do that. They need to concentrate on winning the war, and getting the economy back in shape!

This doesn't make any sense. A review is an opinion and we're supposed to have freedom of opinions in America. And one reason an author requests a review is to make more news of their books. They say the reviewers aren't even supposed to leave any buy links. That's ridiculous. How will readers find out about the books if they don't know where they are?

I'm just a little fish in the pond as I usually purchase most of my books with the exception of my UK/NZ/AU//Ireland/Presents/Desire authors who are kind enough to send me books as gift to review. That's why I don't understand it all as I don't receive books for contests or giveaways. I also don't advertise , so can anyone share how they think this is gong down?

Thanks for the invite, Wendi. This discussion is such a hot topic and hard to wrap your head around. I do receive the books for free and get no compensation for doing reviews, good or bad. Yes, I usually give my books away, but do keep some. Not sure I need the government knowing what books are in my house. Not a real big fan of this, but will comply none the less.
