For thousands of years before the documented voyages of the great European explorers, the intrepid Polynesians were exploring, migrating and colonizing the vast Pacific ocean. An area over 1/3 of the earths surface, containing over 22,000 islands found homes for these ancient peoples. Their navigational skills are unequaled in history. Unfortunately the early Polynesians had no written language, therefore relying on the Talk Stories, handed down through the Oral Traditions from the elders, and the Kahuna's and the Memory keepers. Science, coupled with legend and myth has tought us much about these resolute and tenatious people.
