I can't wait for the time when I have the time to read all of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, one after the other again! She said there will be 8 books for sure, but that's probably going to be it. Diana is really kind to her fans and both times that I met her at a book signing she spoke for a while first and then held a Q&A before she got down to the business of signing books for everyone. There was a line-up out of the store too! I think she's pretty special. I've met Anne Rice too and she's another very kind and gracious lady to her fans. She genuinely enjoys meeting and talking to them. While I'm on the topic, I've met a number of famous authors at book signings (I love going to them when I can) including Frank McCourt, Bernard Cornwell, Marianne Williamson, Irshad Manji, Camryn Manheim (from The Practice and The Ghost Whisperer) and Ethan Hawke. Everyone of them was interesting, smart, kind and gracious. Must be a writer thing! :-)

i second what you say leola. it would be a dream come true i guess. when you read a series of books and really enjoy them you often wonder what the author would be like in person.

Sorry Christine, I guess I should have read your note first. I'm really looking forward to her next book.

Just jumping in here, but I have read everything she has published and I was never let down. In fact I wish there was another one on the horizon. She just has a way of keeping your interest right to the last page.

I read Outlander and Dragonfly, but that's where I stopped. I guess, just moved on to other things...Sometimes a series that continues on and on, can just be to much...But I loved her writing and the stories.

Definitely get the second one: Dragonfly in Amber, by Diana Gabaldon, Leola because I'm sure you'll love it too! The entire story is amazing and Diana has the 7th book in the series, An Echo In The Bone, coming out this fall. I've met her twice at book signings and she's lovely, gracious, witty and above all, very smart!

One of the best historical fiction novels I've read recently was Conceit by Mary Novik. I wrote a review of it that you can read here (if you're interested):

My favourite author is Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander series is required reading for fans of historical fiction!

All the best to everyone,
Christine

I'm over at Chasing Heroes today blogging about Royal Blood, by Rona Sharon. We're debating wither it could be a true romance or not, because of Sir Michael's behavior. Take a look at www.chasingheroes.com

I started a new MEME on my review blog if anyone would like to come over and play with me. Once I get some people going I am going to use a Mr Linky. It's called Wicked Wednesday.
