Hi, all:

I'm getting inundated with emails with questions about these giveaways so either the guidelines I have posted are confusing or they are not being read so let me try to simplify here:

Most of the books offered in this group (this group only) are reprints meaning they were originally published in a hardcover version or published before and are now being published again in paperback version.

Therefore, I'm not really looking for reviewers but bloggers who want to host giveaways for their readers. Of course, I'm not discouraging reviewers - it's just that in these cases we're more interested in giveaways. If you want to do a review, that's fantastic but please realize I don't have galleys to offer for these books and the books may reach you very close to publishing date.

Ideally, I would like the giveaways posted near pub. date so it may be hard to reviews these and do the giveaway together. However, when you post either is really up to you.

So if you request a review copy for a book coming out next month, you won't get your copy until then, very close to the pub. date.

if you close post your giveaway early and it ends before the book is out, your winners might be waiting weeks until the book reaches them.

- Almost always the offer is for five copies of each book and always includes shipping from us to the winners. No PO Boxes and US and Canada only.

- In order to have the book giveaway cross-promoted on our site, the giveaway must have a duration of over 7 days and the link must be sent to me with enough time to have it posted on our site or our newsletter in addition to that time frame.

General rule: longer contests work better for us all around. When you send me the link to your contest send the actual post link not the general link to your blog.

- It's come to my attention that some bloggers who are requesting the books for review are also entering and winning the same book at other sites or that some entrants are winning numerous copies at many sites. I would encourage you to urge your entrants to pass on extra copies they've won. I know some winners do their own giveaways or offer them as gifts but it's very hard for me to justify costs and shipping charges when sending the same person multiple copies of the same book in different shipments. Please keep that in mind.

- Please, please be specific when sending us a request - we get hundreds of emails daily. Please include your link, your full name and address and what book you would like.

We thank you for all you do for us and are honored to work with so many of you!

I hope this makes it easier for everyone. Feel free to post any other questions here.

Thanks Valerie, I copied this into my rules I keep for each giveaway sponsor I have. I really appreciate all books I have recieved it has been a pleasure reading them.
Thanks! Like others who have responded I agree that the clarification of these rules is extremely helpful! I was trying to support a few other bloggers by entering their contests, but now I understand why I shouldn't do that... Got it.
Thank you for this post. I just have three questions.

1.Do I wait to post a giveaway until after I've emailed you, and gotten a response from you?
2.When you respond, do you give me an approximate date that you would like me to post the giveaway?
3.When the giveaway is over, where do I send the names and addresses of the winners?

Thanks so much!
You send me the names of winners and the links to your contest. If you set up the giveaway with Anna or Miriam you mail it to that person.

You can list the giveaway before you hear back with me - just send me the link to make sure I 'see' it.

Please post the giveaway at some point during the month it is offered.
I like the idea of having an approximate date for reviews to be posted. Good idea. I'm thinking I'm going to stick a sticky inside my front cover with that date so I know when I should have it done.
PS: I do think the blog reviews of reprints are especially helpful now, during this recession, as a lot of people I know will no longer consider buying new hardbound books.
Valerie,
Thank you for the clarification. Apologies if we were driving you batty.

These giveaways are really great for everyone all the way around. Thank you!!

Who do I contact at Hatchette to do paranormal/urban fantasy giveaways?

I never see those offered here but several sites I frequent offer them. I run a paranormal book site, Fang-tastic Books www.fang-tasticbooks.blogspot.com and would love to offer the free giveaways for my readers. I just cam eacross one site offering five copies of Tall, Dark and Fangsome. Michelle Rowen is being interviewed at my site on Thursday Sept 4, I would love to do a giveaway of her books.
this forum is for Hachette to promote THEIR giveaways with their books. they are a publisher.
Thank you Valerie as I am relatively new. :) Thank you for all you do for us bloggers!
